Philosophy
Clark Montessori Junior and Senior High bases its entire approach to education (not just academics) on the Montessori philosophy.
This includes demanding academics but also integrates education with real life.
Besides school work, students are required to participate in activities and service in the community and around the world.

Academics
Clark Montessori, part of the Cincinnati Public Schools, is one of the finest secondary schools in the United States.
For all six years of the Ohio Department of Education current rating system, Clark has been rated as either "Excellent", the highest rating possible, or "Effective", the second highest.
These ratings come from a stringent set of objective criteria that is outlined in detail in the "Academics" area of this website. Click the link on the left, then "About the Report Card".

Graduation and College:
  • In some years, including '08, Clark Montessori High School has had a graduation rate of 100%, and     Otherwise has been in the very near this every year of its existence.
   • Almost all of these graduates are attending college.
  • Each year, Clark graduates are awarded MILLIONS of dollars in scholarships. Importantly, MOST of     this money has been awarded on MERIT, not necessarily financial need.
    Merit criteria for scholarships would include things like GPA, community service, extracurricular     activities, demonstrated leadership and many others.

Socially
Clark Montessori has over 20 well-attended extracurricular activities.
Athletics at Clark is extremely successful for a school of it size!
The Clark Steel Drum Band performs several times a year in venues outside the school.
Clark student artists enter and show extremely well in the Hyde Park Art Fair each year.
Clark Intersessions, a unique feature of the curriculum, have students traveling the world.
Required Community Service has students interacting with and contributing to the local community.

The School Building
Clark is currently temporarily located at the old Jacobs Center in Winton Terrace. The reason for this is that we are building a brand new building a brand new facility at our permanent location on Erie Avenue in Hyde Park.
We will spend the '08-'09 and the '09-'10 school years at the temporary building and then move into the new school for the fall of 2010.

Hyde Park is a clean, safe neighborhood. The new building will be well away from the road and will enjoy an approximately one-acre wooded area on the property.

Students will be well away from distractions and disturbances during the school day.

Clark Montessori Junior and Senior High School is part of Cincinnati Public Schools.
As a public school, there is no tuition to students whose parents reside in the City of Cincinnati.

The Order of Priority for enrollment to Clark is as follows:

1. Students completing Grade 6 at a CPS Montessori elementary school (Dater, North Avondale,     Sands, Winton) are automatically admitted to Clark Montessori.
             ATTENTION CPS Montessori Parents: To ensure their automatic admittance, students              from CPS Montessori schools must be registered ON TIME!
             
             Priority registration period, for CPS Montessori students is November 2 - 13, 2009.
             Registration times are 9am - 3:30pm Monday thru Friday.
             SPECIAL REGISTRATION DAY: Thursday, November 5, 9am - 8pm.
             Requirements for registration include:
                1. Proof of Address (Utility bill, phone bill)
                2. Immunization Records, inclding second MMR shot.
                3. The Middle School Agreement and Statement of Commitment signed by parents                     and student.
                4. Child's Social Security card.

2. If space is available, students completing Grade 6 at non-CPS Montessori schools in the Cincinnati area, or other Montessori programs from around the country. An interview with the Principal and staff must be completed to be considered.

3. If space is available, students without Montessori experience. An interview with the Principal and staff must be completed to be considered.

Clark becomes full quickly at enrollment time!
If you would like your child to attend Clark, it is absolutely essential to comply with
application deadlines to ensure a spot!
Parents should call Clark EARLY in their child's 6th grade year to get the cutoff date.
