Principal's Letter

Hello Clark Families!

I want to extend my gratitude to every member of the Clark community this week for your insight, support, and patience as we have adapted to our District’s request to include daily use of metal detectors and bag checks into our safety plan. Students and staff, who are already great at group initiatives, worked together each morning last week on this challenge, and by the 3rd day, all students who arrived on time to school were able to arrive to class on time. Security staff, teachers, and paraprofessionals pitched in to volunteer their time to make this work. We are continuing to receive guidance from the District’s security team and will keep you updated.

In other news, our new Black Student Union had an incredible first Black History Month assembly. Students joined together in song, heard an incredible original poem performed by Kyesha Dotson, learned from an African American entrepreneur, and finished with a school-wide privilege walk. Thank you students for enriching our school in this way – we can’t wait to see what’s next! This week’s quotation comes from Kyesha’s poem “Ignorance.”

“I stand here because I want people to listen, to understand that we are not in competition. We are here to coexist.” -Kyesha Dotson
